I have played the original version of this tune for over 25 years and it has been a long time favorite. I always especially enjoyed Stan Getz's and Kenny Barron's version from the Album Voyage.
Here is my slightly more modern interpretation. I quite enjoy the flow of this one. In the melody in bar 4 there can be an optional Eb Major 7. This can work well in order to give the tension of the bass pedal a lift into the Bb Major.
In bars 11 and 12 the upper indicated chords are for the solo only. This allows the piece to have a slightly more open flow for improvisation. This was found through some trial and error in rehearsals. A short audio demo is included below.
